HOME RECORDING MUSIC STUDIO EQUIPMENT!!!!?

Posted by admin on January 31st, 2010

Ok i am planning on making a small music studio for rapping but i dont know what kind of microphone and mixer would work? I have some suggestions here

Yeah, that looks like a start.

A condenser is good, you could also get the Shure SM58, it’s the standard mic for vocals.

I recommend getting a USB interface. The right one would even have phantom power, so you wouldn’t technically even need a mixer, as long as you have the right software. I use one, most of the time, though, I like to have more control over my inputs.

I don’t care if it’s download or somewhere on the Sims-the musical instruments I’m talking about are things like guitars and drums.

Yes. You need the University expansion pack, but you can get them.

Drums, Guitar and bass guitar are available.

Job interview working with guitars at Sam Ash and need advice!?

Posted by admin on January 31st, 2010

I have a job interview at Sam Ash soon and have knowledge in both guitars and sales. However I’ve never sold them!! Any advice on what i should know or should brush up on? Parts? The guitar itself? Gear?

I think being able to recognize the type of potential customer you’re dealing with. For instance, a bluegrass picker is gonna best be leaned toward a Martin. A country player…Martin or Gibson (classic Telecaster if electric). Blues…Gibson 335. Retro rock…Les Paul, Gibson SG Bass, Rickenbacker. Retro Heavy metal…Flying V….Ibanez….All tube amps (Ampeg for bass players). Classical…can’t think of the name right now, but you get my drift. And new rock/country/funk/punk/skunk….who gives a damn…whatever looks pretty and costs the most money.

Just make sure you have an excuse as to why each customer NEEEDS a particular guitar.

What are the canvas screens that sit in front of guitar amps and cabs on stage at a rock show called?

Flats or masks depending on the background of the person naming them.

How can I safely connect this guitar amp head to these two guitar cabinets?

Posted by admin on January 31st, 2010

how can i connect a guitar amp head with 8 ohms to two guitar cabinets which are both 8 ohms. The cabinets are only able to be connected in parallel to the head. This would make the cabinets total only 4 ohms. Then the head and the cabinets ohms would not match. How can I make this setup work?

You’re choices are to re-wire the cabinets to change their impedance, or to build a series box that will let you connect the cabinets in series and present a 16 ohm load to the amp. (It’s OK to present a higher load to the amp, but not lower).

What kind of cabinets are they (2×12, 4×12)? If I knew this, I might be able to help you out more.

Good luck.

What electric-acoustic guitar would you suggest I buy?

Posted by admin on January 31st, 2010

I’ve been playing acoustic guitar (with picks and fingerpicking) for some time now. I want to buy an electric-acoustic guitar that sounds good both unplugged and plugged. I’ve got around 6 or 7 hundred Canadian dollars in my budget. Definite "model one > model two" answers would be especially appreciated.

don’t know, I play high end US stuff as a general rule and way out of your price range, however Seagull is a Canadian built guitar and quite nice, very underrated but get some of the best reviews on the market, might want to check one out, my girlfriend plays an S6 if that’s any help.
here’s the electric version. http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Seagull-S6-AcousticElectric-Guitar?sku=512121

Are there any gig bags for bass guitars that fit an Epiphone Thunderbird?

Posted by admin on January 31st, 2010

I have an Epiphone Thunderbird, and I need a gig bag or case. I just bought a computer, so I don’t have any money left. However, I need a case or bag before school starts in less than a month. Are there any gig bags less than the $90 hard case that will fit a Thunderbird?

Guitar center has the cheap ones for like $20. A explorer will fit in any bass gig bag.

How much better will my acoustic guitar sound, if I use acoustic strings?

Posted by admin on January 31st, 2010

When I bought my acoustic guitar, it had electric guitar strings on it. (or rather generic strings that can go on either).
I’ve look in the guitarstore, and they sell strings that cost $40 for 6 strings, but are made purely for the acoustic.
Will these sounds better?

New strings are the best way to get a guitar to sound better. You don’t need to pay $40 for a set. There are several good brands which cost about half that for a set (D’Addario, Elixir, Martin). Start with light guage strings. Mediums sound better on some guitars, but but some guitars can’t handle the tension. Lights will be easier on your fiingers, too.
Electric guitar strings are way too light.
You will be amazed at your new sound when you get proper acoustic strings.

It takes a day or so for the strings to stretch out and reach an equilibrium, so you may have to tune up frequently at first.
