The Bass Master himself teaches a little of his playing technique in this “fair use” excerpt from a promo vid for his latest album (you can buy the full video at nowplayit.com).
I think it’s interesting because of the closeups showing his fingering style.
Also interesting I think is even though it’s “very simple” root notes, he still slips in little flourishes to give it some shape, like at 00:51 where he goes C-”F”-D (instead of straight C-D), and how he slides down from F-E at 01:07 keeping the string open instead of muffled like the rest.
The most interesting part though I think is his discussion at 02:27 of how he was “tempted” to put in “fiddly bits” at the one part — jumping up an octave — and why you might do that if you’re feeling “adventurous.” I guess that’s what musicianship is all about, when to do things like that and when to show restraint (he didn’t do it in the final mix).

My local guitar store has a De Armond Hollow body guitar for sale. I would like to know from those who have played on them, are they any good? if so what would be a fair price for it?
the brand of guitar truely doesn’t matter to tell the truth.
just pay around 50 bucks for some new strings(ernie ball=great; fender=not so great)and get your neck straightened out so the strings are right above it so you can easily play;D

Why is it that the majority of tube powered guitar amps not use cooling fans yet produce much much more heat than solid-state amps? My Fender Hot Rod Deville Produces a massive amount of heat and it stays hot for hours after use and seems like a cooling fan would help.
Vacuum tubes tolerate heat more than semiconductors, and require a certain amount of heat just to operate. Natural air circulation is all that is usually needed.

i want to buy an acoustic guitar and i’m a beginner and i have totally no idea what brands are good quality but is also quite cheap.. i want to play the guitar just for fun, nothing serious.. want to play some mainstream songs, mainly like Paramore’s acoustics, kings of leons etc.
thank you !
Yamaha acoustics are great, i have one. Ibanez acoustics are good too. Don’t get a fender. you will regret it.

I am wondering whether a Dean Zone XM or a Dean Metalman bass guitar would be better for playing things like megadeth, metallica, iron maiden, etc.
Personally I would say the Metalman although you weren’t specific in which exact model but the two Metalmans I’ve looked at are better.

I’m interested in getting an acoustic guitar, and I have no guitar experience at all. I was wondering what guitar brands I should look for, and which ones that would be suitable for guitar newbies. I would be using this guitar to play alot of Beatles music.
Thanks!
Yamaha gigmaker is the only pack I’d buy as i beginner. I personally dont like Epiphone because all they make is Gibson cheapo versions (epiphone was bought out by gibson for that purpose)
Takamine, Seagull, and Washburn are all pretty good
i made up my mind recently, i dont like Ibanez acoustic that are under $650 (retail), they feel weird.
if u have money then try gibson, martin, taylor, breedlove, and upper version of takamine, and seagull
u jerk who gave me a thumbs down, thats kinda petty. this is my opinion. i just dont like the way cheap ibanez’s feel in my hand, nor do i like epiphone, ovations dont feel good either. its not right for me and idc what u say cause its going to be another opinion. so to the asker, u can take all these answers as suggestions on what to look for when you’re shopping. ALWAYS PLAY THE GUITAR 1ST, and NEVER BUY ON IMPULSE. If you dont, yoy might buy something you’d regret later on…
