Does anyone know The "name" of the child sized guitars street vendors sale?

Posted by admin on March 20th, 2010

My mom purchased a cute "Child sized" black guitar from a fellow who was selling them on a street corner. It appears to be handmade (Not very good quality, but great for kids to start on). I need to know the name so that I can find a chord book/video.
It’s very small about 2ft long end to end

A Ukulele maybe:

Cliff Burton tribute (3 Bass guitars)

Posted by admin on March 20th, 2010

http://www.myspace.com/bassgk

“In memory of Cliff Burton”

This is an episode of “To live is to die” song, from Metallica.

I play it on Spector bass, with Boss Rc-2 loop station and Zoom b2.1u multieffect.

It`s my own performance, different to original version.

Clifford Lee Burton (February 10, 1962 September 27, 1986) was a bass guitarist best known for his work with the American heavy metal band Metallica from 1982 until 1986. As a bassist he was known for his unique style, which made heavy use of distortion and effects (several of which are usually associated with non-bass guitars), best exemplified on his signature piece, “(Anesthesia) Pulling Teeth”.

Burton’s early influence was essential in creating the unique musical style for which Metallica became famous. Burton joined the band in 1982 and performed on their debut album, Kill ‘Em All, which was composed of songs that had been written prior to his arrival. Burton’s influence was heavier on the follow-up, Ride the Lightning, which showcased the band’s evolving compositional technique. Burton’s final album with Metallica, Master of Puppets, was a major commercial and critical success. Burton died in 1986 when the band’s tour bus overturned in Sweden while the band was on tour promoting Master of Puppets.

What equipment do you need for a home recording studio?

Posted by admin on March 18th, 2010

Let’s say I have a condenser mic… What other equipment would I need to record decent tracks? Also if you could explain how everything works that’d be great…

I’m assuming that you just want to record vocals at this stage, because you mentioned the condenser mic. Creating tunes is an entirely different process.

First off, you need a decent sound card. This will look like a box that you attach to the slots inside your computer (you might be able to USB it nowadays). You’ll be able to plug your mic into that and it will give you much better sound quality.

Secondly, you’ll need a PC or Mac programme to capture your vocals, so to speak. A recording programme. They come in all shapes, sizes and prices. To start off with, Cool Edit is a good one. It’s dirt cheap, yet very effective. With a sound card sorted out properly, you’ll be able to press the record button and get everything you need, just right. There’s tons of effects you can mess around with too.

Thirdly, before you record anything, get yourself into a space where there is no (or very little) external noise. Sounds easy, but it isn’t. Listen to all the natural sounds that you can hear around you – a condenser mic will pick that up.

If you want basic programmes for creating music, Fruity Loops is a good one to start with, but you’ll have to work that out for yourself. It has so much functionality, you’ll just have to try all of its features out.

How to connect multiple cabinets to one guitar amp head?

Posted by admin on March 18th, 2010

Let’s say that I have three 2×12" guitar cabinets and I want to connect them to one guitar amp. How to do it?

Than you,

David – You need to find out the minimum impedance (ohms) that the head can handle. It is probably 4 ohms. That means you can connect two 8 ohm cabinets to the head at the most. Adding more speakers to a head amp will not give you more sound – there is a limit.

What are some good cheap electric guitars?

Posted by admin on March 18th, 2010

I’m looking for a nice quality electric guitar but I don’t want to go over $300. Please tell me specific guitar models. Links would help too. Thanx!

If you’re new to playing electric, I’d recommend Ibanez. They’re built like rocks, sound amazing and are often nicer than guitars costing twice as much. They’re also known for having really thin necks and low action, so they’re much more comfortable to play than most brands. Epiphone guitars are also great, but the necks are really chunky, which can make them challenging to play. Ideally, you should go to a guitar store and test drive a bunch of different brands, since each will have its own feel. And if you compare a bunch of guitars side by side, chances are you’ll find one that just feels like it belongs in your hands.

Here are some links to guitars worth considering:

http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Ibanez-GART50QA-Electric-Guitar?sku=584121
http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Ibanez-GART50FA-Electric-Guitar?sku=584120
http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Ibanez-GRGA32-Electric-Guitar?sku=584123
http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Ibanez-Artist-ART100-Electric-Guitar?sku=512354

Ignore anyone who tells you there’s no such thing as a great guitar for less than $300. Those people are just snobs who are hung up on brand names. I bought a second-hand Ibanez more than 20 years ago figuring I’d use it to learn and then upgrade to a Fender. I eventually did get the Fender (and a bunch of other guitars), but the old Ibanez is still my primary guitar for both recording and playing live because the sound is incredible and it’s the most playable guitar I’ve ever owned.

Whats the difference between an acoustic guitar and acoustic/electric guitar?

Posted by admin on March 18th, 2010

Other than the obvious that the acoustic/electric can be plugged in. If it were unplugged would it sound the same as a regular acoustic guitar? In other words, if I had an acoustic guitar and the same model of the guitar came out as acoustic/electric would they sound/play the same unplugged?

The only difference is that the acoustic electric has a build in pickup, electronics, and of course an output jack where the end pin normally goes. But when played unplugged it sounds identical to the same model without the pickup and electronics. There are some who claim that there are subtle differences between the two based upon the effect of the electronics but I’ve not been able to hear them and in any case there are always subtle differences between two guitars, even two of the same make and model.

Recording Studio Tutorial: Acoustic Guitar

Posted by admin on March 17th, 2010

Morning people,

this is the next video of the Studio tutorials
Today: Acoustic Guitar recording

YouTubeLink with Stereosound:

Video Download for better quality and stereo sound

Note:
this is just the way I do it.
Many people will call that way, the wrong way.

The sound of that acoustic guitar recording is not perfect.
I did not look for the perfect position and did not mix it.
What you hear is the unprocessed sound.

See Ya.
