Lyrics:
Intro (0:02)
Verse 1 (0:20)
You got a fast car, I want a ticket to anywhere
Maybe we make a deal, Maybe together we can get somewhere
Any place is better, Starting from zero, got nothing to lose
Maybe we’ll make something, Me myself, I got nothing to prove
Verse 2 (0:48)
You got a fast car, I got a plan to get us out of here
I been working at the convenience store,
Managed to save just a little bit of money
Won’t have to drive too far, Just ‘cross the border and into the city
You and I can both get jobs, And finally see what it means to be living
Verse 3 (1:15)
You see my old man’s got a problem, He live with the bottle, thats the way it is
He says his body’s too old for working, His body’s too young to look like his
My mama went off and left him, she wanted more from life than he could give
I said Somebody’s got to take care of him, So I quit school and that’s what I did
Verse 4 (1:44)
You got a fast car, But is it fast enough so we can fly away?
We gotta make a decision, Leave tonight or live and die this way
Chorus (2:01)
I remember when we were driving, driving in your car,
The speed so fast I felt like I was drunk,
City lights lay out before us And your arm felt nice wrapped ’round my shoulder
And I, had a feeling that I belonged
And I, had a feeling I could be someone, be someone, be someone
Verse 5 (2:32)
You got a fast car, And we go cruising to entertain ourselves
You still ain’t got a job, And work in a market as a checkout girl
I know things will get better, You’ll find work and I’ll get promoted
We’ll move out of the shelter, Buy a bigger house and live in the suburbs
Chorus (2:58)
I remember when we were driving, driving in your car,
The speed so fast I felt like I was drunk,
City lights lay out before us And your arm felt nice wrapped ’round my shoulder
And I, had a feeling that I belonged
And I, had a feeling I could be someone, be someone, be someone
Verse 6 (3:29)
You got a fast car, And I got a job that pays all our bills
You stay out drinking late at the bar,
See more your friends than you do your kids
I’d always hoped for better, Thought maybe together you and me would find it
I got no plans I ain’t going nowhere, So take your fast car and keep on driving
Chorus (3:56)
I remember when we were driving, driving in your car,
The speed so fast I felt like I was drunk,
City lights lay out before us And your arm felt nice wrapped ’round my shoulder
And I, had a feeling that I belonged
And I, had a feeling I could be someone, be someone, be someone
Verse 7 (4:27)
You got a fast car, But is it fast enough so you can fly away?
You gotta make a decision, Leave tonight or live and die this way

Check out the chord …
Check out the chord diagrams at the start of the song to see where to put your fingers to play the chords. I suggest you might want to start with something easier like Knockin on Heavens Door, check out my lesson on it, it is a good starting song

Hey guys, thanks …
Hey guys, thanks for your guitar lesson. There’s just a mistake on your details on the right. Because on the video you say :
Cadd9 ; G –> DU X* UUDU; D X* DUDU
and on your details(writting on the right) you say :
Cadd9 ; G –> DU XU* UDU; D X D* UDU
Well, sorry for my english mistakes
Hope someone will answer me.
Good job !

Tip: I learned from …
Tip: I learned from Mike Herberts – If you don’t own a capo you could just get a pencil and a rubber band – It should work fine.

You will still be …
You will still be able to play it, it will just be in a different key. Play it like the capo (thing on the guitar) fret 0.

December 13th, 2009 at 2:33 am
That “thing” is …
That “thing” is called a Capo, it only means that you can’t play the song in the original key so therefore you can’t play along with a recording
