i want to buy an acoustic guitar for my boyfriend?
buy acoustic guitar February 12th, 2010he plays electric already, but i want to get him an acoustic one. the thing is, i know absolutely nothing about buying guitars… what kind is a good kind? how big should it be? do i pick the sizes? i really dont know anything about this stuff! please someone let me know what i should be looking for to get him a good acoustic guitar. i want him to love the gift! thanks

Guitars are quite personal things, people will always want to try them in a shop before they buy one. It might not be a very good idea to buy one as a surprise. Maybe you should tell him that you want to buy him one, and the two of you could go shopping, since he’ll have a better idea of his guitar preferences. You might want to give him a price range beforehand though, guitars aren’t cheap.
An acoustic sounds like a thoughtful idea for your boyfriend, but I’d definitely recommend a day of shopping with him instead of a surprise so it’s exactly what he wants, since there’s such a vast range of guitars with largely varying differences. It’d probably be a fun day out for both of you, and stop you stressing about what to choose.

i would suggest maybe goin to a guitar center they got a nice selection on acoustics.. i go there alot and play in there sound proof rooms testing out all the different kinds of guitars…. but really it all depends on how much you are willing to spend on the guitar… the more money= a more better quality guitar…. so i would suggest that you make a price range on the most you are wanting to spend then head over to a GC or any place that sales musical instruments really and look around and even ask someone there to help u…some good makers are Gibson, Dean, Martin, Fenders, even Yamaha.. hope this helps! good luck!

Does he have a favorite guitarist that plays acoustic? If so, get him a similar model to what his hero plays.
