How much do bass guitars cost?

Posted by admin on March 10th, 2010

I’m planning on buying my first electric bass guitar and i was wondering on how much its costs… whats the cheapest but good starting kind?

Depends how much you wish to spend. As a beginner I would go for a yamaha. You can pick one up for about £125 but if you want better quality Im afraid the price goes up theres a Warlock Bass for £3069.00! Yamaha’s are very good quality for Bass though go out and test some ^^

Bass tapping lesson (Introduction)

Posted by admin on March 2nd, 2010

Hi guys, here’s the lesson that some of you have asked me for. It’s a nice little riff/melody designed to give you an introduction to tapping, and a bit of confidence to carry on to something a little more advanced in the future.

There are many ways and approaches to tapping, but I find this one is the most helpful for beginners in the technique.

Don’t forget, like all of my videos, don’t get frustrated if you can’t do it right away! Start real slow, and build up your ability and confidence. You’re training your brain to understand something new. It takes time…

why do people look down on picks for bass guitars?

Posted by admin on February 28th, 2010

i play with my fingers most the time but sometimes i will use a pick. but i notice people saying how real bass players use there fingers and dont use a pick. why do most people look down upon bass players who use picks?

Because "most people" are snobs…No, seriously, you should use whatever works for a particular song and gives you the sound and feel you’re looking for. Like you, I play with my fingers most of the time but I use a pick for harder rock tunes. And screw what other people think.

Bass Guitar: Tapping Basic Arpeggios explained!

Posted by admin on February 27th, 2010

For those of you who don’t understand what i mean when i say ‘arpeggio’, it simply a chord stretched out so that each note of the chord is played separately.

I hope this helps you guys who are in the pursuit of bass tapping. Nothing special just a cool little chord progression and tapping breakdown. If you get bored watch at 6.37 where i bring the speed and where the tapping really sounds like ‘tapping!’ kinda thing.

Me just messing around on the bass one night and decided to do this quick lesson in response to some of the demand i’ve had.

Not really a lesson as such, but an explanation of some neat tricks i use when tapping. The licks i play here sound a lot harder than they actually are.

Tapping isnt something to be abused, it is merely a stylistic technique to be used in appropriation in music.

What company makes the best bass guitars?

Posted by admin on February 26th, 2010

One that would sound good when playing heavy metal or thrash metal.

What you should really be asking is, "What bass will be able to play whatever I need to play?"

No offense, but your questions is silly, as a bass can only sound like what you want it to. If you’ve got an imagination, you can pull off any sound on almost any bass.

I would recommend any bass with a 3-band EQ because these basses are more VERSATILE, not more METAL.

I’m a metalhead, and I play on a Fender Active Jazz Deluxe and an Ibanez SR655PB. They don’t really look metal, but they can sure play it.

There is no universal tone for metal, only what the song calls for.

What’s the most significant differences with the Ibanez AEB10E and the AEB5E acoustic bass guitars?

Posted by admin on February 24th, 2010

I’m thinking of getting one, but the AEB5E is way cheaper, yet I don’t see a very significant difference. Or is it?

I believe the AEB10E has an onboard tuner. I think the pickups are different. Nothing too different. The only guitar I play is Ibanez, so I say either one. If you want to save money, go for the cheaper one.
