How to plug my guitar amp into the computer?

Posted by admin on April 25th, 2010

Just as simple as the the subject says. I want to know how to plug my guitar amplifier into my computer so the audio plays out of the amp.

You cannot use the speaker out of your amplifier to go into your sound card.
This amount of amplification will ruin your soundcard, Your sound card was designed to only have line level input, if your guitar amp has a line out then you can use that to go to the soundcard, but do not make a connection from the speaker out to the soundcard.

What kind of guitar amp should I get for playing psychedelic rock?

Posted by admin on April 9th, 2010

I’m looking for a guitar amp that has great reverb and vintage sounds from the 60’s. Any ideas. I’ve been thinking about getting a Fender Twin Reverb.

Look into line 6 they have pre loaded sounds on there that might have bands from the 60s. i’m no expert i just know that line 6 has a lot of amps like that, my father had 2.

What is a good small electric guitar amp?

Posted by admin on April 7th, 2010

I need a small guitar amp thats not so heavy or big. Not one of those mini amps but a proper amp, but it should be small like one of those "Cube" amps. Please tell me the name and model and price thanks!

What are you using it for? If just for practice the VOX AC-4 is incredible. Just picked one up after hearing it at GC. I got the last one, they were flying off the shelves. Love this little amp. If you want something to gig with but still easy to move around, you can’t go wrong with a Fender Princeton Reverb reissue. I have that one also and it is amazing. I just can’t play solid state amps, so if that’s what you’re after disregard my input.

How to connect multiple cabinets to one guitar amp head?

Posted by admin on March 18th, 2010

Let’s say that I have three 2×12" guitar cabinets and I want to connect them to one guitar amp. How to do it?

Than you,

David – You need to find out the minimum impedance (ohms) that the head can handle. It is probably 4 ohms. That means you can connect two 8 ohm cabinets to the head at the most. Adding more speakers to a head amp will not give you more sound – there is a limit.

Which headphones should I get for my guitar amp?

Posted by admin on February 21st, 2010

I have a Peavey Transtube Solo electric guitar amp. One of the features it has is that it provides a headphone jack. Ive tried putting my ipod, psp, and various other headphones into this jack but no sound comes out of the headphones.

I was told this was because it requires headphones of the right impedance. So I was wondering which headphones would work for my guitar amp? A link would also be appreciated.

Go to www.PEAVY.com.I saw the manual and they say that any regular headphones will works.Did your speaker mute when you connect the headphones? If so,then you have a lose wire(the ground wire) of the headphone output jack(inside the amp).

Where can I find a computer based guitar amp OTHER than guitarFX?

Posted by admin on February 19th, 2010

That’s it. I want a realtime guitar amp, free or not, but all I can find is the internet flooded with links to guitarFX but little else. What am I missing?

I have a Line 6 Toneport, which comes with Gearbox modelling software. I like it a lot. I’ve also used Amplitube.

Should I buy a good guitar amp head or guitar first?

Posted by admin on February 17th, 2010

I am an intermediate guitarist and I have an okay guitar and amp combo. I want a Mesa Dual Rectifier head and an ESP SV Standard. I only have enough money for one. Which one should I get first?

Without remarking on my opinion of your choices, I’d say that you should get a good guitar first. Of course that really depends on how adequate your existing equipment is now. Assuming that you can get by with both your existing amp and guitar, I’d go for the guitar of your choice.

Amps come and go, but your guitar is your lady. She inspires you. You caress her with your hands. The amp is just a skirt that makes her look (or sound) good. Find a guitar that makes you feel good and stay with her. And for gosh sakes, don’t choose her for her looks alone. Go to a real guitar store, and play her. Make sure she’s the one. No mail-order brides, please! (sorry musiciansfriend!)

If I want a different sound from my guitar amp?

Posted by admin on February 15th, 2010

If I have a guitar amp that isn’t giving me the metal sound I want, do I just get a pedal and hook it up?

For example, an amp simply has too much of a "crunchy" sound and I want more of a harsh metal sound, do I purchase a stomp box and that’s all? Thanks.

Bugera 6262 Tube Electric Guitar Amp Demo by Armand

Posted by admin on February 13th, 2010

Another off-the-cuff video by Armand.

This amp is quite impressive. Once again Bugera gives you extreme abilities with their wide-sweep knobs. This means that compared to a similar amp, the gain/presence/reverb can be set to a much lower number and achieve the same results as the other. This is very good for having more possibilities of tones or taking that low-output guitar of yours and making it metal!

Head:
* Hand-built 120-Watt amplifier driven by 4 x 6L6 valves (convertible to EL34)
* Classic 2-channel preamp design (Clean, Crunch, Lead) featuring 6 x 12AX7 tubes
* Integrated high-class reverb with dedicated Reverb control for each channel
* Independent Equalizer sections for each channel with dedicated Bass, Mid and Treble controls
* Classic Presence control per channel for awesome sound shaping
* Impedance switch (4, 8 and 16 Ohm) to match virtually any speaker cabinet
* Heavy-duty footswitch for Channel selection and FX Loop function included

Cab:
* With 200 Watts of handling power, this vintage-style tuned cabinet is the perfect complement to virtually any valve head
* Four 12″ heavy-duty BUGERA speakers for ultimate guitar tone
* Switchable 200-Watt, 16-Ohm mono or 2×100-Watt, 8-Ohm stereo mode operation
* Recessed carrying handles and rollers for easy transportation
* Extremely low-resonance and low-vibration cabinet
* Reinforced corners and protective vinyl covering

How do I "kill" a guitar amp’s feedback?

Posted by admin on February 12th, 2010

What do I have to adjust to balance the sound? I just got my new Randall amplifier, after finding out it was my borken cord, and not my old amp that was the problem. My dad saudered the ground wire inside the output end of the cord, but to my dismay the new amp lets out a deafening squeal over my guitar. What could be the problem?

1) Why not replace the cable instead of repairing it just to eliminate it as a possible culprit?
2) Your output may be too high on your guitar or amp, allowing your pickups to, well, pick up the amp’s output.
3) Don’t stand with your guitar facing your amp, especially in confined spaces.
4) When all else fails, order a "Hush Super C" feedback suppressor from Musicians Friend.
