Chinese rip-offs of name brand guitars, such as Gibson, are a little less than a half-assed guitar.

You might consider buying a used Gibson. Alternatively, you could buy an Epiphone. Either of these options will get you a better quality guitar than a Chinese rip-off.

Tellya what, nobody will sell you stuff online at the wholesale level… most every wholesaler- even those with websites- will almost require human interaction.

If you have the intent to sell online you need to know that many companies have strict policies when it comes to this.

Email me once you get your business set up, your EIN and state licenses and I’ll point you in the right direction… but don’t say I didn’t tell you!

Jackson Guitars (www.jacksonguitars.com) got their big break building for Randy Rhodes. They still have a custom shop. You can’t order on line, but you can build parts list and then order.

Plus one for the Peavey custom shop.

After that, you start getting into very limited production luthiers, and a whole lot of money!!

I was looking at guitars online and I started to come across ‘gibson les paul’ and ‘epiphone les paul’ and ‘gibson explorer and flying v’ and ‘epiphone explorer and flying v’ I noticed a significant difference in the price, gibson being more expensive. Is epiphone a knock-off or something? I truly dont understand the difference???

Epiphone is a cheaper model of the same guitars also made by Gibson. Main difference is the hardware. Look at it as Toyota and Lexus, they ate both made by the same company, but one is a higher end model.

Well I have always said try it out in person first but I found a great website called zzounds.com that has changed my mind about that. I think it’s best to go into to a store, look at the selection, play a guitar, then buy it.

But if something is wrong with the guitar, I’m sure you can send it back. Just make sure to use a credible source, like musician’s friend, guitar center, or SAM ash (my favorite).
