What does "muffle musical instruments" mean?

Posted by admin on March 8th, 2010

I’m staying at a dorm and it says "Students are not permitted to play any type of musical instrument in the dorms. Those who wish to play or practice must muffle their musical instruments."
What is muffle?
it’s an acoustic guitar

Muffling is like dampening the sound on an instrument. I play percussion and an example of muffling a percussion instrument (like the snare drum) would be putting a little black rubber pad (idk that’s what we have at our school) on the snare head to make it quieter. I could give a better explanation if I knew you’re instrument!

Which musical instruments are the hardest to learn and to play?

Posted by admin on February 19th, 2010

Of all the musical instruments which one is the easiest to learn and to play??

I have some names, piano, guitar, drums, cello, violin..just that,

please answer, from the easiest to the hardest one..thanks..
i did not mean anything by asking this question, just wanna know..what s wrong wit that??

Violin, cello, piano, guitar, drums. Violin is one of the hardest instruments to sound well. Having said this, some find violin easier than the guitar and this is determined by how much you love the instrument. I found guitar and piano easy. Then again, others may find it hard.

What are some musical instruments whose origin is Kyuushuu, Japan?

Posted by admin on February 12th, 2010

I want to find out more information about Kyuushuu, Japan. Particularly the instruments that came from Kyuushuu. Does anyone know of perhaps a site I could go to to find this information out? Thank you.

Try wikipedia. Look into the Gamelan. I’m fairly certain it’s Japanese, but other than that I don’t know much of it’s origins. But do a general google search for "music of Kyuushuu, Japan" and see what happens.

How many musical instruments can a person learn at one time?

Posted by admin on February 7th, 2010

Without getting too caught up, with leftover free time, and with enough time spent on each to learn it properly.
And I mean a regular person with only an hour or so of free time in the evenings, but around 5 hours of free time on Saturdays and Sundays.
I’m just wondering, because I play the flute, and am learning the guitar, but would also like to learn the piano and several other instruments. Do you think I would be able to find some kind of balance?

Depends on your definition of "properly". If your hour of free time per day doesn’t include practicing the two instruments you already play, then you already don’t have enough time to be good at the ones you play. Half an hour a day is enough to be okay, but not enough to be great.

There are lots of instruments where learning one gives you a huge step up in learning another. Clarinettists often play bass clarinet too. Recorder players play all the sizes. If you like variety rather than always practicing one instrument, you might consider one of those. As a flautist, how about piccolo?
