If you play a Gibson through a Marshall amp, you will get a way better sound than a Squier through a Line 6. From what I hear Ibanez is a good brand, and you can get good tone with it. The amp really does matter, some are way better than others, and can do different things. You can probably get a decent Epiphone Les Paul for that price range.
