Why to autographed guitars usually have to be cheap guitars?
cheap electric guitars November 30th, 2009Almost all autographed electric guitars are cheap ones like Squier Strats and Epiphone les pauls. Just an opinion question why?
I’m not talking about signature guitars, I’m talking about autographed with a sharpie
cost effectiveness. most people aren’t going to ever be playing them, so they don’t have to be high quality..

Would you autograph a classic painting?
Why ruin an expensive nice guitar?

That is pretty simple. They are cheap because why would someone spend a lot on something that they are giving to a random person? How many guitars would the person give out? If they were to give out a lot would they spend hundreds or thousands?

Because the people who are impressed by signature-model guitars are USUALLY beginners. Not everyone.
And there are some higher end ones. Martin used to have a 100% koa wood Trey Anastasio signature guitar that was upwards of $3000. They discontinued it, though. Adamas makes a couple of Melissa Etheridge models that are over $2,000, including a really nice 12-string.
But usually, signature model guitars are created with the purpose of taking advantage of a rockstar’s popularity and making money off of their name.

The expensive guitars that the person would sign, would cost 2 or 3 times more than a crappy guitar with their autographs on it.
