How can I safely connect this guitar amp head to these two guitar cabinets?
guitar amp January 31st, 2010how can i connect a guitar amp head with 8 ohms to two guitar cabinets which are both 8 ohms. The cabinets are only able to be connected in parallel to the head. This would make the cabinets total only 4 ohms. Then the head and the cabinets ohms would not match. How can I make this setup work?
You’re choices are to re-wire the cabinets to change their impedance, or to build a series box that will let you connect the cabinets in series and present a 16 ohm load to the amp. (It’s OK to present a higher load to the amp, but not lower).
What kind of cabinets are they (2×12, 4×12)? If I knew this, I might be able to help you out more.
Good luck.
