Think Pawn Shop..... many good guitars are left there because somebody thought they wanted to learn how to play, then gave it up. And you can take them off the hooks and play them to test them. A good idea is to take someone who is a guitar player along for advice.

Yes and no — you need to be careful of second hand guitars because if they weren’t properly taken care of the neck might be warped. When this happens you have to put a lot of pressure on the strings to get the right sound from them. It makes it hard for beginners to actually enjoy learning how to play.
I bought my kid a guitar a few years ago and it ran me a little over a hundred dollars. But you can get a new one on clearance from Sam Ash — for about $60. Please visit the link listed as my source– also you can search for music stores on the web you might come across a sale. Try to stick with nylon strings in the beginning– metal ones can cut your fingers to shreds if you haven’t built up callouses.

advice only…"even for a beginner", you need a decent guitar, with good action, etc, believe me, junk is junk.
good quality guitars ARE available, just use caution, when you decide to buy one, "better" if you took someone who actualy plays guitar with you. BEST OF LUCK.
