ultimate guitar . com has plenty of free lessons. surprisingly enough though, i would stick with youtube. there are thousands of videos of lessons for whatever you are looking to learn.

if you want to do it right by reading music notation then thats what most those free guitar lessons are gonna teach you. TAB is for people that can’t read music or too lazy to learn and you could figure it out in 5 minutes.
If you just want to play NOW and care little about all the other crap. Think of a song you can conceivable play given you level and skill. Youtube that title of the song and when you find someone playing it the way you’d like to play it, follow their lead. If you arent familiar with chords yet then search for the TAB ie….. "tears in hevan tab" TAB represent the 6 strings of the guitar and there’s dots and/or numbers that tell you which figer to use. Way retard proof.

That’s the BEST free online guitar lessons site I’ve come across.

ultimate-guitar.com is for when you can read tab and are way past the basics. Save that for later.

But really, even with a good website, nothing beats private lessons for learning how to further take your playing on an instrument to the next level. cyberfret.com will say the same thing.
