What equipment do you need for a professional Recording Studio?
recording studio equipment November 1st, 2009Hi all!
Need to know what kind of equipment is industry standard for recording quality music. Brand names, what the equipment does, would be great info!
Also would be great to have relevant costs in setting up. If anyone reading this has skills and looking to partner in a recording studio would be great!
Cheers
This is a two part answer. First, the equipment is only 1/2 of the studio. I can put wings on my chair but that doesn’t make it an airplane. Likewise, a bunch of fancy equipment wont turn itself into a recording studio – you’ll need to design some rooms.
Depending on the size of your facility, you’ll need between 50 – 100k to do the build-out in some whatever pre existing structure you choose to use. I’m in an old warehouse.
Next, your protools rig will run you about 25k. You’ll need at least 20k for microphones. 60k should get you the plugins and outboard gear that you need. Get prepared to drop an additional 10-20k for your monitoring setup. Finally, you’ll need 15k for cables, headphones, microphone stands, etc. All said, you can do this for about 300k.
If you want specifics then visit my web page at www.fullclipaudio.com and check out the equipment section.
Good luck.
