you will need a computer, a microphone, speakers, equalizers, instruments you want to play with, and fabric that will neutralize the sound from the outside and a recording program for the computer. I know because i took a college course on music recording and also I work in a music booth once every two weeks.

24 track recorder, powered monitors. guitar,bass,drums,keys.mic’s,headphones
no computer necessary, been making my own cd’s for years.
