Dyer’s Eve-Bass Guitar added and mixed

Posted by admin on May 7th, 2010

I decided to add and remix quite arguably one of my favorite Metallica songs. I used a bass guitar recording I got off the internet (can’t remember where) and added it in. Also, I cut the upper and lower extremes a small amount in the original master of Dyer’s eve so the guitars have a bit more noise. I feel that the voice is almost entirely drowned out sometimes, but I have no clue what any of you will think. All in all, it feels like there’s a fuller noise, and I love it, I might try other AJFA songs.

Also, note:I don’t own Metallica, …And Justice for All, or Dyer’s Eve.

Cliff Burton tribute (3 Bass guitars)

Posted by admin on March 20th, 2010

http://www.myspace.com/bassgk

“In memory of Cliff Burton”

This is an episode of “To live is to die” song, from Metallica.

I play it on Spector bass, with Boss Rc-2 loop station and Zoom b2.1u multieffect.

It`s my own performance, different to original version.

Clifford Lee Burton (February 10, 1962 September 27, 1986) was a bass guitarist best known for his work with the American heavy metal band Metallica from 1982 until 1986. As a bassist he was known for his unique style, which made heavy use of distortion and effects (several of which are usually associated with non-bass guitars), best exemplified on his signature piece, “(Anesthesia) Pulling Teeth”.

Burton’s early influence was essential in creating the unique musical style for which Metallica became famous. Burton joined the band in 1982 and performed on their debut album, Kill ‘Em All, which was composed of songs that had been written prior to his arrival. Burton’s influence was heavier on the follow-up, Ride the Lightning, which showcased the band’s evolving compositional technique. Burton’s final album with Metallica, Master of Puppets, was a major commercial and critical success. Burton died in 1986 when the band’s tour bus overturned in Sweden while the band was on tour promoting Master of Puppets.

TrueFire – http://www.truefire.com

On Twitter – http://www.twitter.com/truefiretv/

On Facebook – http://www.truefire.com/facebook/

In this section I will introduce you to the wonders of written music, starting with the most basic things to play on your Bass, open strings. I strongly urge every beginning Bassist to learn how to read. Not doing so will only shut you out of a great deal of information and knowledge. So the best way to start is to get used to looking at the music while you play some very simple exercises. Well learn to understand what the differences between whole notes, half notes, quarter notes, triplets and sixteenth notes are, and how to establish good practice habits to familiarize yourself with them. Ill also talk about the need to learn how to mute the strings that you are not playing and give you some tips to start working on. I will also give you some tips on right hand technique to help you get a nice consistent tone out of your Bass.
